Wyl Menmuir was born in 1979 in Stockport. He lives on the north coast of Cornwall with his wife and two children and works as a freelance editor and literacy consultant. Before this he worked as a journalist and teacher and gained degrees from Newcastle University, Durham University and from the NCTJ. Wyl completed his MA Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016, gaining a distinction. During this time, he wrote his debut novel, The Many, which is released by Salt Publishing in June 2016. Wyl is writer in residence at Richard Lander School in Truro, and also writes and teaches about children’s reading and writing, in particular, in the areas of reading for pleasure and teachers as writers. When he’s not writing, you’ll find him out on the water or up on the cliffs – anywhere there’s a view of the sea.
