Liz Kessler grew up in Southport. She studied English at Loughborough University and has worked as a teacher and a journalist. She taught English and Media Studies, and has also run Creative Writing sessions. As a journalist, she has written for local and regional newspapers in Manchester and York. She lived on a narrow boat for two years and also travelled around Europe in a campervan. She is the author of the New York Times best-selling Emily Windsnap books (which started life during her MA Creative Writing studies at MMU), and the Philippa Fisher series. Her books have been translated into over 20 languages and have sold almost five million copies worldwide. Read Me Like A Book, the novel that Liz wrote while studying at MMU, was published to acclaim in 2015.
