Kate Lord Brown grew up in the wild and beautiful Devon countryside. After studying at Durham University and the Courtauld Institute of Art, she worked as an international art consultant curating collections forpalaces and embassies in Europe and the Middle East. When the family left London for the orange groves of Valencia, Kate began to write full-time, publishing work internationally and gaining a MA in Creative Writing. She now lives in the Middle East with her family, and writes a regular blog for writers juggling their work with family life, and the fortnightly Ahlan! magazine Book Club column. The Perfume Garden has been translated into seven languages, was shortlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year awards, and was published in the USA in April 2015. The House of Dreams, which Kate began writing in the third year of her MA at MMU, has just been completed, and the first rights have sold to Germany (Das Sonntagsmadchen' is published in September 2014).
