In 2005 Diana was due to start an MA in the History of the Manchester Region at Manchester Metropolitan University. But, when the course was cancelled at the eleventh hour, she enrolled on the Creative Writing MA. This decision proved to be a turning point. She had, in fact, been involved with writing classes and a writing group for many years, but now faced the challenge of writing her very own novel.

She is now doing a PhD in Creative Writing. The course involves writing a second novel; the title of her research is ‘Fiction Writing: How closely related or divergent are the processes of planning and creativity?’
